Information for professionals

Information and resources for professionals who are caring for someone who has been sexually assaulted or raped.

Your legal obligations

If you are supporting someone who is aged 13-15 years old, or up to 18 if they have been Looked After and Accommodated, it is a legal requirement that the police are involved if they come to Archway Glasgow.

If they do not want this, please phone 0141 211 8175 to discuss other ways in which they can access the help they require.

If you suspect a child has been abused, then you must report this to the police or social services.

Archway Glasgow is a SARCS

Archway Glasgow is a SARCS – a Sexual Assault Response Coordination Service. A SARCS is a dedicated NHS service which can offer healthcare and support in the days after an assault, if you’re not ready or unsure whether to go to the police.

This means that beyond providing sexual assault services in Glasgow, we also coordinate support for all of the West of Scotland: West of Scotland Sexual Assault Response Coordination Service (SARC).

People can request to attend any service, even if it isn’t the one closest to them.
